YAI - Seeing Beyond Disability is Hiring a Maintenance Repair Worker Near Fairfield, CA

Job Summary:

The Maintenance Repair Worker is responsible for ongoing, basic, and routine maintenance and repairs on facilities, equipment and/or interior and exterior property structures for assigned locations. Assesses and initiates routine repairs and tasks to keep the facility and its contents in a safe and operable condition. Performs maintenance and repairs as indicated on Maintenance Request Forms (MRFs) at assigned locations and as assigned by supervisor, Design and Resource staff or other designee, including performing duties at other YAI locations, as needed.

Key/Essential Functions & Responsibilities:

  • Routinely assesses facility equipment and structures to identify necessary maintenance and repairs to maintain safe and operable conditions.
  • Troubleshoots minor maintenance problems involving electrical, structural, plumbing and equipment repair or replacement for assigned programs.
  • Completes routine and emergency repairs to equipment, fixtures, fittings and building systems for assigned programs based on MRFs; escalates more complex repairs to management.
  • Promptly communicates all facility maintenance issues with the program supervisor or designee.
  • Purchases pre-approved supplies, equipment, and materials necessary to complete projects.
  • Maintains a work area that is clean and organized; ensures tools and equipment are safe, clean, and in good working condition.
  • Moves furniture, deliveries, packages, and other large items as required.
  • Tracks and reports completed tasks and assignments.
  • Reports repairs and all hazardous conditions to management on a timely basis.
  • Responds quickly in the event of an emergency, notifies appropriate management, and follows safety protocols.
  • Travels between various YAI facilities and supply stores (i.e., Home Depot, local hardware store, etc.) to purchase and/or transport supplies or to complete additional assignments, as directed.
  • May operate YAI motor vehicle to transport materials or tools, particularly in areas with limited public transportation or when transporting large items.
  • YAI vehicle must be safe and legally operable in the State of California. The vehicle operator must always perform a pre-trip inspection to ensure that tire pressure and vehicle structure is intact and uncompromised.
  • Attends job training and safety programs as required.
  • Adheres to company policies, safety regulations and OSHA and CAL-OSHA requirements.
  • Performs all other duties as required by management team.

Minimum Qualification Requirements including education, experience, licensure/certification, etc. and essential physical capabilities (e.g. lifting, assisting lifting, standing, etc.)

  • High school diploma or GED and
  • Six months related experience, including carpentry, minor repairs and safe use of tools and equipment.
  • Ability to perform designated responsibilities including lifting and/or carrying objects weighing up to 50 pounds; using power driven and regular hand tools, bending, crouching, kneeling and standing, working confined spaces, working outdoors in all kinds of weather conditions.
  • Working knowledge of hand and power tools, common appliances, and devices.
  • Ability to work independently, organized, and able to multitask.

For assignment to Level 2, must also meet the following, additional requirements:

  • Minimum of three years related experience, including carpentry, minor repairs and use of tools and equipment.
  • Valid CA State Driver's License highly preferred for assignments in areas with limited public transportation. License must remain valid. The cost of renewing a license will be the responsibility of the YAI employee.
  • Satisfactory MVR for the past three (3) years.

Preferred Qualification Requirements (desired requirements beyond MQRs above)

Basic knowledge and awareness of ID/DD, including knowledge of their unique environmental needs.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $26.33 - $31.25 per hour

Expected hours: 40 per week

  • 8 hour shift
